On the fourth day of Christmas your blog friend gave to you a list of totally rockin’ countdowns that should be included in ANYONE’s Christmas décor. There is nothing more exciting than the anticipation itself of Christmas morning. Whether you are one to wonder what Santa left for you under the tree or can’t wait to see the look on your son’s face when he realizes that Santa brought him that light saber he’s been eyeing every trip to the store, you can’t deny, the anticipation of this holiday season is contagious.
I’ve taken my eagerness and channeled it to find my four (well, five) favorite ideas to celebrate the holiday countdown with your family.
My first find is from Pottery Barn Kids. This new take on tradition (over 5′ long!) will leave even scrooges you know looking forward to Christmas and it can be personalized with your family name.
This whimsical, jumbo clothespin calendar lets you hang small, tied-up packages for each day of the countdown. From coins to chocolate, the kids will be racing to take their package off the clothspin.
My second find is from Advent Traditions. This countdown calendar is adorned with 24 small pockets and a movable marker. An simple way to get the whole family (including Mom and Dad) in on the fun, it’s a must-have this holiday season!
A present in itself, this Villeroy & Boch from Macy’s is truly unique and made to last generations. Porcelain drawers, decorated with elegant gold accents, this countdown calendar is not meant for little hands. Each day you pull a drawer out and turn it around. On the back of each drawer is a piece of a picture; when all the drawers have been flipped you have a beautiful winter scene. Such a BEAUTIFUL piece and one to be handed down generations.
To keep the little hands busy while we bask in the beauty of our new first generation heirloom above consider interactive advent calendars from none other than Lego. Available at Target– of course!
But my favorite (you’ll understand why) Christmas countdown won’t surprise those who know me well. Its none other than a WINE TREE of course. Who thinks I can get my DH on board with this?? Seriously!? This could take gift wrapping to a whole new level of fun. I’ve seen these on Pinterest and random articles online. I’ve also seen this concept done with beer and whiskey…needless to say, I’ll be heading to the wine department at Mariano’s a bit later this afternoon to get started on this….what’s that? There’s only 13 days ’til Christmas!? I better get my glass and start pouring.
Happy countdown y’all!
XO,
Melissa
